It's the time for traffic jam fans all over western china! if you belong to this growing group, you should be on the roads now!
The city of Chengdu proudly announced to be the second city in number of cars in china; still more then 20000 new cars each month! the paradise for everybody, who like to spend hours in traffic jams.
also out of city you will have good chances to enjoy your hobby, as there is road construction everywhere in western sichuan. this summer it was quite usual to get stopped for 2-4 hours because they put the tar finish on the roads. the other interesting thing is the building of tunnels all over the places, which makes the former roads over the passes very hard to drive, especially if it's rain season and the construction places are covered with slippery mud!
but still more important is the driving style, the rules on these wild roads are different . as soon as there is the slightest obstacle on the road, people start to fill both lines from both sides so if the actual problem is solved it can take some hours to open this blockage...
